Limitless, Bradley Cooper and Holtkotter 6391

Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper stars in Limitless. This movie is about Bradley Cooper finding a super drug that makes him superhuman. In the beginning of the movie when Bradley goes to get more pills and ran errands, you would notice the Holtkotter 6391 Table Lamp. It's in the scene when the apartment was vandalized. You can see the glass globe was upside down while the lamp base was still standing. I must say this lamp is very sturdy for such a beating!

This Holtkotter table lamp is a Viennese style with a technologically-advanced dimming system, Dimm-System P1 (*P1).

Point Dimming
the dimming control is reduced to a single point on the arm of the lamp

Tilt Switch
if the lamp gets tipped over, it will switch itself off

Soft On
a single “click” will turn the lamp on -- the lamp gradually brightens to full brightness

Soft/Delayed Off
a single “click” will turn the lamp off -- the lamp dims to 60% brightness, remaining at that level to allow you to exit the room; then the lamp gradually turns itself off

Dimming Cycle
press and hold the dimmer down -- the lamp will cycle through all the dimming levels -- release the dimmer when the lamp reaches the light level of your choice

Home automation and lighting control with XBox Kinect

Imagine... Controlling light via motion. If you sit down, the lights will dim as you watch a movie. When you get up to grab the popcorn, the light brightens up so you wont trip over your dog's tail. With some hacking, imagination is history.

Mike , aka Nitrogen, shows in his video on how he made his XBox Kinect to control lighting. Now I have a great excuse to have the Kinect intalled in the showroom at Savio Lighting!

Nothing is Perfect.. Even a Porsche!

When you own a car that is over $100k, would you not think all the features would work regardless where you are? Well, think again. If you own a Porsche, think twice on how to lock your Porsche if you decide to park and go in Newton Highlands or Needham Heights. Or anywhere that has a cell tower close by as a matter of fact.

Here at Savio Lighting's Boston lighting showroom, a customer that bought a Holtkotter 5506/6 Low Voltage Chandelier the other day was having issues with his keyless entry to his Porsche Panamera. None of the buttons on his remote worked as he tried to leave our showroom. Apparently, the frequency for the Porsche keyless entry is interfered by the nearby cell tower. It has happened before with another Porsche, a Cayenne.

Swing by to view Savio Lighting's display of the Holtkotter line of light fixtures. Can't go wrong with outfitting your home with German, high quality light products.

McLobster, McSushi.. Fancy!

McDonald's has some fancy menu items. Maybe not at your local McDonald. Trending worldwide on Twitter now is the McLobster and McSushi. Rumors has said that they may be on US menu. Obviously, now we know that these rumors are wrong. I've would've ordered a McSushi to check out how a McDonald can produce raw, edible fish! Being in Boston, McLobster was on my local McDonald's menu; but I never tried the McLobster before.

Now that they've got McCafe to bring up McDonald's a notch. Would they install pendant light fixtures in their dining area like Boloco? At Boloco, you can see the Pendant DLSL901from Dainolite.

How to safely dispose of a CFL when it burns out

It is best to recycle your CFL. At each The Home Depot store, cunsumers can simply bring in any expired, unbroken CFL bulbs, and give them to the store associate behind the returns desk. The bulbs will then be managed responsibly by an environmental management company who will coordinate CFL packaging, transportation and recycling to maximize safety and ensure environmental compliance.

EPA recommends that consumers take advantage of available local recycling options for compact fluorescent light bulbs. EPA is working with CFL manufacturers and major U.S. retailers to expand recycling and disposal options. Consumers can contact their local municipal solid waste agency directly, or go to or to identify local recycling options.
