So we know that the cool burning LED traffic lights do not melt snow such as the ones in Philedephia. On a snowy day, you may find a firefighter clearing the LED traffic lights.
Then why would anyone living in snowy America want to switch to LED landscape lighting? Isn't it pointless if there are 2 feet of snow and the LED path light is buried in snow?
LED light fixtures create light much more efficiently than incandescent which mean there is less heat generated. Although LED light fixtures will never generate the amount of heat that an incandescent or halogen will, the Kichler LED accent fixtures will still effectively melt snow. Kichler uses the housing to heat-sink the LED; even at -20°C (-4°F) the surface of the fixture will be approximately +15°C (+60°F).
